Lindera benzoin has an upright habit and grows to 6 10 tall. Late summer brings red drupes which ripen as the leaves turn yellow. Male and female plants are necessary to set fruit. All parts have a spicy scent, including flowers, drupes, crushed leaves, and twigs.
